At the end of the 2019/20 season, the club were keen to promote their new kit offerings for the following year however. the Covid-19 pandemic meant gathering players together for a normal photo-shoot was not going to happen.
In unison with kit sponsors Umbro, Schalke's marketing team reached out to UK-based sports artist, SPARKIUS to commission an original artwork that would combine the new 2021 kit offering with the rich footballing history and working-class passion of the club's supporters.
Once completed, the artwork received positive feedback from Schalke fans and was displayed on a series of billboards around the city of Gelsenkirchen and inside the club's famous Veltins Arena.
Steve worked closely with our team to create a stunning original artwork that highlighted the rich history of Gelsenkirchen and our supporter base while also showcasing the new kit offering from our partners at Umbro.
The design process was smooth and the end result was positively received with a series of large-format murals featured around the city and in the stadium.
